So the main purpose of our weekend gateway (read here and here) was to visit Margaret River and the surrounds, located about 4 hours drive, down south of Perth.
It was our first time to this tourist attraction and since it was quite a last minute decision and we didn't feel like spending the money on accommodation, we decided to do a crazy day trip. Imagine driving close to 10 hours a day! Luckily there were two of us who could take turns driving. Hehe.
By the time we arrived Margaret River, it was already close to lunch time. There are many places to visit in Margaret River. We decided not to visit the wineries, which Margaret River is famous for, because we aren't interested in wines. Besides, Swan Valley (read here and here) has all of those wineries too. And since we were quite late for the caves tours, we decided to leave that for another time.
We visited the Information Centre and were recommended by the volunteers there to visit Cape Leeuwin, in Augusta, about 30 minutes drive further south of Margaret River. And Cape Leeuwin is situated on the most south westerly tip of Australia. Cool isn't it? We've been to the most eastern side of Australia in Queensland and now we've gone to the most south westerly tip of Australia. Haha.
On the way to Augusta, we stopped by a few beaches (don't know their names). We were actually driving along the Indian Ocean and we saw the blue waters from the car and the sea was so inviting. So we decided to take a detour and tried to find a stopover. We were so excited to see the white sandy beaches and some rocky areas, perfect for some beautiful picture shots! :)

The Cape Leeuwin tower has 7 floors and 186 steps to the top. It was built somewhere around 1895. We didn't go up to the tower but decided stay at the base and take some pictures there. In fact, it was already nice on the ground! :)

There were also olden times cottages built during those times and they were all built of limestones.

At the most south westerly tip of Australia, you can see the the two oceans meet. The Southern Ocean and the Indian ocean will meet at a rock in the sea. I wonder how they know where to draw the line the meeting place of the two oceans. Haha. I think it's quite random! Hehe.

There were free binoculars provided there too. So we tried looking for whales or dolphins in the sea but we had no luck.
We also had a simple lunch in a cafe there.

It was nice outing and luckily we had a very good weather too. We really enjoyed ourselves and wanted to go down south again. Now we know why people say South of Western Australia is nicer than North. :)
