Royal Perth Show 2009

Last weekend, Chin Fei and I celebrated our 5th year anniversary by visiting the Royal Perth Show in Showgrounds. It was my first time visiting a Royal Show because I didn't go to the Melbourne's show when I was in Melbourne for 4 years. What a pity.

I was amazed that there were lots to see in the Royal Perth Show that we needed an entire whole day to see everything, including playing some games. Tee hee hee. Although the Royal Perth Show is mainly for children, we still did enjoy ourselves because there were many other things to see and play that were for people our age. :)

Among the things we saw were:

1) Old machines and engines:

An old man keying in a Morse code for us. The message was from me to Chin Fei, wishing him Happy Anniversary. Hehe.

 Shaping a wood

Shaping iron

2) Fancy types of cakes and pastries!!! Yum yum..

3) All kinds of animals:

4) Perfomances and games

Acrobats

Zorb balls

Well, of course since we were in a fun fair, it wasn't surprising that we chipped in some money to play some games, hoping to win those big soft toys that I can flaunt around the fair as well as in the train on the way back home. Tee hee hee.

Randomly picking a bag containing a prize inside...

...and unfortunately I only got a small little penguin and a starfish. :(

Nope, we didn't dare taking any rides at all...

The night performance before the fireworks was featuring horses. I think they wanted to show how strong a horse power is and they let loose a group of horses and made them run around the field. It was spectacular. At one point, they switched off the lights and it was completely dark and suddenly the lights around the horse riders and the horses were turned on and it was really beautiful. And the riders held flame torches and they rode along and it was just so nice. :)

After the performance, at 8.30 pm, there was fireworks. You know how if you always see fireworks, it's quite boring because it is the same old stuff. You see a light shooting up from the ground and then there's a big flower of sparks come falling down. Well, this is different. There was music to it too. While the music was amplified through the loud speakers, the fireworks and sometimes fire flame shoot from the ground towards the sky. It was as if the fireworks were following the beat of the music; just like musical fountains! Only that this was musical fireworks!! I have never experienced that sort of thing before and it was MAGNIFICENT! Even comparable to the New Year countdown fireworks in Sydney, I tell you! Unfortunately, I didn't record the fireworks performance to prove it to you but you really got to believe me! :)

After the fireworks performance, Chin Fei decided to give another try of winning a big prize for me. Tee hee hee. So he tried playing the same game which was using a water gun to shoot water at a target to raise your score.

And guess what? He sure was lucky! It was funny because the second time, I also wanted to play to increase the chances of winning the toy. So there we were, competing against each other just to win the toy for me. And when I found out that I lost (I didn't know he won), I was utterly upset. I looked towards Chin Fei who was beaming with joy after being told he was the winner and he literally jumped from his seat like a small little boy. Hahaha. And he asked me to pick which toy I wanted. Well, obviously the big and cute one, of course! :)

So I went back home, feeling so proud that my boyfriend, for the very first time, won a toy for me at a game. Yay! :) :) It was sure great fun for us and a memorable anniversary moment spent together. :) :)
