They said that the best time to go skiing is in August because that's the time when it starts to snow. I'm not a fan of skiing. Neither am I a fan of snowboarding. I've seen snow a couple of times before but I haven't visited any snowy mountains here in Victoria before. So, Zi Xin and I decided to join the University of Melbourne Postgraduate Association (UMPA) on a daytrip to the nearest snowy mountain last Sunday.
Up on the bus with Zi Xin. It's just the beginning of the trip and I already look so tired. Sigh. :(
I got all excited when the bus drove pass a few farms. I've been telling friends that I have not seen any cattle or sheep here in Australia before. I've only seen them in my trip to New Zealand. And now I get to see sheep in the farm in Melbourne! Yay! :P Behh behh behh.. :POur AUD 80 each to Lake Mountain was a worthwhile experience. It was both our first time tobogganing and I enjoyed it, particularly because I didn't have to learn how to toboggan, unlike snowboarding and skiing. It's just a matter of siting on the toboggan and slide all the way down! Whee~~~ :P I'll let the pictures do the talking. :)
Yeah, I was carrying my tripod as a sling bag on my back while tobogganing.
Posing with my toboggan
It was snowing. But I think my pose became more of asking "Why". Hehe. :P
Some people just want to be braver and snowboard on a toboggan instead
Slide slide slide
Spot me! :)One thing about tobogganing is that it hurts your butt so much! :P The ride was awfully bumpy that I hit my bum at each bump. Man, it still hurts even until now! Nevertheless, I felt very happy that despite having so much difficulty walking up the slope again in thick and slippery snow, I think I worked out my "elephant thighs" because both my thighs are still sore now. With this, I am now more motivated to transform my "elephant thighs" to "carrot thighs". Hehe... Gee... :P
And of course, who will go to a snowy place without taking a picture with a snowman? Hehe. We thought of making a snowman ourselves but we saw so many out there that we just took pictures with them instead. Save our time on making a snowman so that we can have more time tobogganing, camwhoring in the snow and also having snowball fight!!! Hahaha.. :P
We wanted to take a few shots just like Winter Sonata.
But I reckon we need more a blizzard to take a cool picture like the ones above. Haha. :P Moreover, it would definitely be so awkward if two girls hug one another to have a cool shot of the Winter Sonata pose. Hmm, where's Chin Fei when I need a pose like this?? :P The only similar pose I had with him is the one in front of The Remarkables in South Island, but yet it's never that close to the Winter Sonata pose. Hahaha.. :P
I love this picture a lot. :) At The Remarkables, one of the LOTR scene (whereby Gandalf charged down the mountain in his white horse in LOTR 2, I think) with Chin Fei. :)Then, while toboganning, we came across this mysterious enchanted forest, or that's what I like to call it, because of its misty looks. So cool, no, actually it was really freaking cold! Hehe. :P
Zi Xin, being all naughty, holding her gigantic snowball, ready to slam into my face after the picture was taken.

We were the last to arrive back at the bus (gee...) because we couldn't get enough of toboganning (it became even more fun after the snow). I was so tired after the trip that I slept throughout the entire journey back home. Hehe.
p/s: If you think I look fat in the pictures, remember that I'm wearing a thermal shirt, a thick knitted woolen jumper and a super thick long jacket with a pair of thermal leggings, thermal pants, jeans and tracksuit. It was so cold that day but I sweat after playing toboggan. Hehe. :P
***************
Mum asked me to go home early this month because the Hungry Ghost Festival month has begun. A good reason to tell my supervisor that I have to leave home early this month. Haha. :P But anyway, I'm still here in the lab at 9.44 pm! :S Hopefully the mice ghosts don't come chasing after me! :P

2 poked Ai Ling:
Oh so this is where you were during the weekends. I thought why your blog had no activities for such a long time.
Anyway, I quote, "But I reckon we need more a blizzard to take a cool picture like the ones above."
I think you just need photoshop to get pictures like that. Because that does not look like real snow (the ones falling).
I've never heard of toboggans, but it looks like sledding to me, and it sounds fun!
Haha... don't worry.. I'm still ALIVE!! :P :) Busy doing experiments lar..that's why no time to update!! Missing me already?? :P
Yeah, I think toboggans are sleds. I saw a picture of you doing that with your friends, think just outside your house in Ann Arbor. It was posted up on your blog too right??
