Of skin and products

I have freckles on my upper cheeks since I was 10. And I've been trying so many different products to get rid of them. I hate my freckles, despite most Caucasians love having freckles because they are cute and no matter how hard they try to get freckles by sunbathing, they just get tanner and tanner. I wish I can swap my freckles for a tan instead.

To think of it, it's funny how there are so many different types of facial products brands listed out there in the market. Even celebrities start marketing their own names on the products. I sometimes wonder if they are really effective. To me, the products are all the same. As long as I get a non-alcohol, non-greasy, with UV protector product, I'm fine. It doesn't matter if it's by Simple or ZA or Johnson & Johnson but of course not an "anyhow-kind-of-product" made from frogs' slime and whales' sperms!

At times, I do wonder if the manufacturers really conducted experiments and really got outstanding statistics to prove the efficacy of the product they manufacture because it has 'Vitamin C for this and Vitamin E for that and this compound X-Y-Z that cannot be found in other products which can do this and that and that'. And even though if the results are clearly shown in "30 out of the 35" participants in "three weeks" after the first usage, I'm still not convinced. Because things like, some claims that the products can whiten the skin complexion, making the person fairer and fairer can be a flaw. I doubt that because I don't think the products can ever make a black person become white. But if it really works, that means that the product would have already bleached the skin, hence causing disastrous effects. Like even the numerous creams I bought for my freckles claim that they can fade freckles, they are still there!! After 13 years!!

Despite all my skepticisms and critics, I still purchase one of the most expensive facial products in the market - The Body Shop. I used to think that The Body Shop products are popular just because of its brand. I never stepped into the shop before, until last year when I was hunting for a good exfoliating product for my dry skin, living here in Australia. Since then, I have been purchasing almost all my products from there. I use The Body Shop's body butter, hand lotion, feet lotion, gloves, socks, body scrub, eye cream, night cream and the list goes on. Now, I'm even thinking of switching my hair shampoo to The Body Shop's! :P It's a pity that the place I am living in now does not have a bath tub or else I would purchase a foaming bath product and have bubbles created all over the place while I listen to music and pamper myself with some scented candles around. A nice spa..ahh..how refreshing! :)

I guess one of the reasons why I like using their products is that besides experiencing a significant improvement in my dry skin condition, The Body Shop is against animal testing because they "believe that testing cosmetics on animals is unethical, unnecessary and should be banned" - and I support that! :)

Now, I'm hoping that The Body Shop can manufacture creams for freckles. I hope to be able to try out that product to see if it works. Man, The Body Shop should sponsor me products for advertising this for them and for knowing that I have spent so much money on their products! :P

p/s: There's 26 days left to vote at the poll on the right panel to go for or against making my blog private. I've actually made a decision but I would like to see what you think about it. The poll results will not affect my decision.
